Canada comfortably beat USA, will fight for gold

The North American derby for a spot in the finals was pretty much decided after the first fifteen minutes in which the Canadians scored five goals, despite conceding in the second minute, and up by four. The game leveled a bit in the second period as the United States narrowed the margin to three goals. However, Canada had the game firmly in their hands, keeping the USA at a comfortable distance. Neleh Vineau Sargeant scored two in the third period to make the final score 7-4, sending Canada into the finals against Slovakia.

COACHES´ REACTIONS

Taylor Steadman (USA): It was a tough match. We were losing from the beginning and we couldn't keep up the pace. Canada skated well and converted chances.

Chris Syroviak (CAN): We are happy to have won. We were better in the game and converted chances. That decided.
