Switzerland U23 beat Great Britain to finish fifth

Switzerland started the match better as Enzler and Iten scored a minute and a half apart late in the first period. The Brits fought very bravely and were a fair match to the Swiss, supported by brilliant Neish in between the pipes. Eliott Lewis came very close to narrowing the gap in the 22nd minute, but he was tripped by the Swiss goalie during his breakaway. In the last period, Switzerland finally found the recipe to score and put five in the British net, setting the final score to 7-0 and winning the fifth-place game.

COACHES´ REACTIONS

Tibor Kapanek (SUI): ¨I think we left a good impression. I told the boys before the game to bring everything they had to the game and to enjoy the last match of the championship. We wanted to show that our performances against tournament favourites werenť flukes. I think we did well in doing so. A trip back to Switzerland will be much better knowing we left everything we had on the rink here. It was huge experience for us and we got to see how junior ball hockey looks in other countries. With that notes we will be back for the next occasion and we will be better. ¨

Luke Browne (GBR): ¨I donť really want to talk about the game. What I want to talk about is how Great Britain is progressing very well. We had very young team. We will be back in two years even stronger and we are going to take one of these nation out.¨
