Canada U20 advance to final after great performance against USA

After a tight first period, where the goaltenders reigned supreme and weren't beaten once, the goals started to come during the middle period. Canada's Max Donohoe opened the scoring with a beautiful shot between the goalie's pads, but Michael Henry equalized soon after. Canada played exceptionally well during a subsequent power-play, and Kayden Rawji found the back of the net. The back-and-forth battle continued with the Americans coming back and grasping the lead early in the second period but the Canadians immediately equalized thanks to Jaden Dyke's successful penalty shot. The American defense then crumbled as Canada scored another three unanswered goals within five minutes, and the winner was decided. In the end, Canada U20 secured a 7-4 victory and will compete for the gold medals!

COACHES´ REACTIONS

Paul Kastes (CAN): „It was a great game by us, probably the best of the tournament so far. I think we played pretty much a complete game, powerplay was great when it needed to be. We had a bunch of chances and we scored goals. I think we could have a couple more but the US team is really solid. They gave us a great push in the play-offs so hats off to them for a great tournament. We’re going for gold tomorrow so we’re happy.“

Frank Bruno (USA): „2-1 going in the third, we come back, score two goals and take the lead and then go to the penalty box again. Boys gave full effort, I’m proud of them and we’ll play our best for the bronze tomorrow."
