Canada East defeated Great Britain, to face Czechia White

Canada East got a big win to start the second phase of the U16 tournament. The Canadians built up their lead very quickly as they netted two within the first 150 seconds, but the game was far from over. Great Britain pulled back and just after the first intermission, they sensationally equalized. The maple-leaf freight train was about to hit the gas though, and Canada scored ten goals in the remaining 25 minutes with Mason Burke scoring a hat-trick and Landen Mitchell racking up five points. Canada East beat Great Britain 12-3 and will face Czechia White in the fifth-place game.

COACHES´ REACTIONS

Thomas Walsh (CAN): "Credit to Great Britain, who delivered a very energetic, intense, and strong performance. The match was undecided for a long time, but when the players started passing well, quality finishing followed as well."

Callum West (GBR): "Difficult match. We worked hard and scored three goals, which pleased us. We were often penalized, and even if we disagreed with some of the decisions, we continued with our game. Playing against Canada is always tough, but we performed well, and we are ready for tomorrow's duel."
