Last-minute semifinals clinch for USA U20!

The participants of the U20 semifinals have been decided. The Americans took the final spot as they defeated Switzerland 4-0 in a direct battle for the last play-off place. Anthony Migliozzi opened the scoresheet in the twelfth minute, and Collin Wilbur doubled the US lead just 15 seconds into the second period while short-handed. Wilbur got another one shortly after jump-intercepting a clearance and surprising the Swiss goalie. Michael Henry then solidified the American victory with ten minutes to go. A flawless performance by the USA was supported by the fabulous Cole Christman in between the pipes who picked up a shut-out, saving all 18 Swiss shots.

COACHES´ REACTIONS

William Brasko (USA): "We needed this victory to advance to the medal rounds. Before this match, we only had one point and had to swallow some tough losses, even though the guys gave it their all. It feels great to make up for it with a win today. We told the team that this was just the first step out of three. We're already looking forward to the playoffs."

Tobias Strahm (SUI): "In this game, we accumulated too many penalty minutes, which brought us down. It was by far our best game, but we still have the same problem with frequent penalties, and we struggled to score goals. Without scoring, you can't win a game. We had a great goalkeeper and, above all, an excellent team spirit. We never stopped fighting, which I really like about this team. I love working with these players, and it's a big disappointment that we didn't make it to the semifinals because such a performace deserved a better outcome."
