Great Britain U23 halted with points within reach

The Swiss took an early lead after a solo run by Michel Bütikofer, but their lead didn't last for long as the Brits had an answer right up their sleeves and equalized. Switzerland kept increasing the pace, and at the beginning of the second period, Yanik Eberle's shot found the back of the net. Great Britain didn't give up and tied the game two more times before Switzerland yelled charge and scored three unanswered goals. That halted all British efforts, and despite being right under Swiss feet, they're still waiting for their first points as Switzerland won 6-4.

COACHES´ REACTIONS

Luke Browne (GBR): This was exactly the performance I expected, and I believed that the guys would confirm the progress we have made in the tournament. We were pumped up right from the start, and we were really close to victory. I can find a lot of positives for our current project, which is heading in the right direction. Although we didn't win, this performance is great news for us.

Tibor Kapanek (SUI): We expected a slightly different match, but on the other hand, I understand that the motivation of the players against such an opponent is different. Moreover, they were surely exhausted from the previous matches. We knew it wouldn't be easy, especially from a mental standpoint; it was mainly about enjoying the game. I just had a little issue with the number of unforced errors, so we need to forget about this match as soon as possible and prepare for the Americans.
