Lily Pushkar after beating Great Britain: We were on adrenaline

The game between Great Britain and the USA offered a great show as it was a close game. Until the final two minutes, each team could easily end up winning. But it was the Canadians who stepped up in the final two minutes, scoring two and securing three points. Lily Pushkar played a key role in the American victory, being named the player of the game.

It was a close game, the Brits were fierce opponents. What are your thoughts on that?
We played a lot better than our first game. We communicated much better, passed the ball much more accurately, and so on. It was such an improvement from the first game.

You had 35 shots on goal. Isn´t it disappointing you managed only to score four times?
We definitely should have been more productive, but their goalie did an outstanding job. It was tough to score on her.

What made Britain such a difficult opponent to play against?
Definitely their goalie as I said, and their defense. It wasn´t easy to get to the net.

It was 2-0 just two minutes before the final buzzer, but ultimately, you were able to make it 4-0. What happened there?
I think we just had boost of energy and we were on adrenaline. We wanted to score another so badly. I am glad we were successful.

Your record is 1-1-0. Are you satisfied with it?
I think the first game really helped us win the second one. I am fine with how we played the second match. It was a lot better than the first one.

And what are your thoughts on tournament so far?
I am having a lot of fun and I think it is awesome.
